Lancashire Council Paid Fifteen-Hundred Pounds for a Removals Van to Move Across the Road
66Embarassment for Lancashire Council, as the public learns that because of health and safety concerns for workers, they shelled out one thousand five hundred pounds for a removal van to move across the road.
The van was parked outside the Guild Hall offices on Cross Street in Preston, to assist 200 staff relocating across the road to Winckley House. Workers were told by the council not to carry boxes across the road because of health and safety fears.
The van was transporting files, computers, and office furniture, driving down the road, turning around and parking on the other side of the street. The owner of the removal company explained that it was against health and safety guidelines for employees to carry boxes across the road.
The owner of the removal team in question explained that it was against the company's health and safety rules for employees to carry boxes across the road. Colin Boardman, Environment Directorate support manager at the Council defended the decision, arguing that it was unsafe for staff or the removal team to carry items which included specialist computer equipment across a busy road.
Guild House is home to much of Lancashire Council’s workers, including the environmental directorate, highways, consultancy workers and business services. Quite how financial shrewd renting the removal van was remains to be seen, but the council stand firm by their decision to waste the money instead of walking it across the road themselves.
Wherever in the country - or the world - you're planning on moving to, Bishop's Move are the removal company for the job, with over 150 years moving experience.
